Japanese Hair Straightening
Experience Beautiful, Sleek, and Smooth Hair!
Unlike straightening irons, which only last until you wash your hair, and relaxers, which last a few days, Japanese hair straightening permanently straightens your hair through a chemical process. The special treatment applied to your hair break your hair's biophysical bonds, allowing it to straighten.
Japanese Hair Straightening FAQs
Is Japanese Hair Straightening a permanent hair straightening service?
Yes, your hair will remain permanently straight until it grows out.
How long should I wait before coloring my hair?
We recommend at least 7 to 10 days for all types of color, including demi permanent. You risk the chance of the hair slightly reverting if the hair is colored too soon after this service.
Why is it necessary to wait 72 hours before shampooing, clipping, or banding the hair?
The hair will continue to naturally oxidize and re-harden into its strongest state over these 72 hours, providing superior, long-lasting results. Bands or clips could leave permanent marks on the hair.
How long should I wait before getting a retouch?
Normally, there should be a minimum of 3 to 4 inches of regrowth to perform a retouch. This may be 6-9 months of new growth. The length of your hair will also have an effect on the length of time between services.
What about layers in the hair?
This procedure looks the best if your hair is all one length. You may want to consider growing out layers if your hair has a layered style.
Can I perm my hair after having it straightened?
Yes. After 7 to 10 days, but always perform a test on a small section of hair first.
Do I need to avoid moisture for 72 hours?
Yes. Although this makes bathing difficult, the long-term results will be the client's reward. We recommend avoiding steam rooms, hot tubs, swimming pools, and heavy workouts in the gym.
How long should I wait after coloring my hair to receive Japanese Hair Straightening?
We advise waiting at least 7 to 10 days.
If I have had my hair previously treated with a relaxer product containing Sodium Hydroxide, can I still have my hair straightened with the Japanese Hair Straightening service?
No. The hair WILL break off.
